What is Show Up?
Show Up centres around collective action, creative coordinated displays of solidarity, and group participation that demonstrates the scale of support our movement has.
GATEcrash the cache
As part of our 100 for 100 show up pillar, we are trying to get 100 Geocaches placed as part of our series 'GATEcrash the cache' in order to spread the word of what we are doing to the public.
For those who are unfamiliar with Geocaching, Geocaches are physical containers hidden all around the world you can find from a set of coordinates. Think of it like a treasure hunt, all from your phone. You can download the Geocache app or use their website to find caches near you. It is recommended that you find at least 20 geocaches before hiding your own.
Location
In order to hide your own 'GATEcrash the cache' geocache, we have created the following guidelines for the location your cache must be hidden in:
- On a gate, entrance way, or accessible area, and;
- In front of a building used for Guiding activities, and;
- With the permission of the landowner, and;
- Following all guidance from Geocaching (found here)
Once you have decided on a location and gained the necessary permissions, please create your cache page on the Geocaching website or app, then submit a request below with your GC number to be assigned a series number for your cache so that we can identify each one.
Cache Page
The name of your cache should be: GATEcrash the cache #XXXX Name
The 'GATEcrash the cache' series was started by bet1wibb2 in 2026 as part of the Guiders Against Trans Exclusion campaign 100 for 100. In which 100 challenges were launched, aiming to get people to speak up, show up, and be heard in the fight against the decision made by Girlguiding on the 2nd December 2025 to exclude trans girls and women from the organisation. One of these challenges was to have 100 geocaches placed around buildings used for Girlguiding activities.
If you would like to add to the series, you can obtain a series number here:
