What is Be Heard ?

Be Heard makes sure that testimonies, responses, media and public acknowledgements are captured and amplified, highlighting that inaction is as bad as negative action, while empowering individuals to take on further action going forwards

Take a stand. Send it back.

Throughout our time as guiders we have collected many meaningful badges, worn uniforms and made our promises. Make a statement and send badges and uniform back to HQ to highlight the values they've ignored.

Here is the address :

Challenges

The following is the list of 100 for 100 challenges under the Be Heard pillar, with further information on how to complete it, including examples, templates and links.

100 donations to trans inclusive shelters
0
100

Shelters are of huge importance for those facing homelessness, especially so for those who are trans and more likely to face additional issues and abuse trying to gain support. Whether you can only donate a little, or set up a fundraiser with a unit to donate more, the following organisations would love your support:

100 supportive youth organisations
0
100

Although this issue currently has the biggest impact on Girlguiding, we know there are many other youth organisations that support the trans community.

We would love to hear from members of other youth organisations, including but not limited to Scouts, Cadets, Woodcraft Folk, and St John Ambulance.

We'd like to hear from you in any way you prefer, whether that's a written letter of support, a video stating your support, or your whole group signing a note together!

100 testimonies
0
100

At GATE, we have already received numerous testimonies from people who have been affected by this decision, but we want even more!

We would love some video or audio testimonies we can share on social media, but we love the written testimonies too.

We know that trans girls belong, be that in Girlguiding or in general society.

Please send us your reasons that you believe this, in whatever way you like. That could be a picture of your notebook, a mindmap, or a simple comment. Perhaps even complete this task with your units, writing all of your reasons on a whiteboard or piece of paper!

100 texts sent on December 2nd

100

We know for a fact that more than 100 texts were sent on December 2nd after the decision by Girlguiding was released.

Send us screenshots of some of your own responses!

100 chalk messages in public spaces

Share our message in public without causing any damage by writing and drawing chalk messages for others to see. You can use some of our slogans such as

Or feature our mascot Reef and their friends!

100 Promises kept
0
100

Make a quick video, in uniform, trans colours or other guiding wear, stating, "I'm keeping my promise by supporting trans members, are you?" You can do the Guide salute if you want to.

Make sure to send it in to us on socials using #GATE100 or use the submission forms and we can put them all together!

100 reasons I belong
0
100

This challenge is targeted mainly at our younger members, to help them to consider how every girl is important and worthy of belonging in guiding. We'd love to see what creative ways you complete this challenge in units - get some inspiration and support in having these conversations with the volunteers handbook - Unlocking the GATE

100 letters to the Charity Commission/OSCR urging for inclusive guidance

100 hopes for the future
0
100

We hope that Girlguiding will allow trans girls and women back into the organisation

We know that this is an important fight to have, but there are many other fights we need to have, for trans people and beyond. Share with us some of your hopes for the future - the more you believe, the truer it becomes.

100 badges sent back to Girlguiding
0
100

As Guiders, most of us have a large collection of badges. We are asking you to consider sending back a badge to Girlguiding HQ which makes a point of your commitment to Guiding as well as your commitment to fight their decision.

We recommend sending back a badge that has been earned, as opposed to an unofficial or fun badge. Some badges that might make the biggest impact are:

  • Promise badges
  • Service awards
  • Award badges
  • Programme badges

You can post these badges to this address:
Girlguiding HQ
17-19 Buckingham Palace Rd
London
SW1W 0PT

If you are resigning, or even if you feel unable to wear your uniform at the moment, take a stand by sending your uniform, or a piece of it, back to Girlguiding HQ. The address to send to is:

Girlguiding HQ
17-19 Buckingham Palace Rd
London
SW1W 0PT

Don't forget to send us a photo of your uniform, all packed up and ready to go.

100 'thank you' letters written for those leaving
0
100

Help us reach this goal by writing a thank you letter to someone who has resigned because of this decision. Either write an open letter to all who have left, or if you know someone personally who has left, you could write a letter just for them.

Send us a copy of your letter, but please remove any personal information if you write it to someone specific.

100 videos recorded stating 'Trans Girls Belong in Girlguiding'
0
100

Record yourself, your unit, or your leadership group all saying the phrase 'trans girls belong in Girlguiding' to create a collated statement video.

This challenge is specifically for those involved in Girlguiding - for those outside of Girlguiding please see the challenge '100 allies recording videos of “Trans Girls Belong in Guiding”' on the Speak Up page.

Please record in landscape, in the highest quality you can, with yourself or your friends central in the video.

If filming your unit, please remember you must have marketing photo and video consent for all participants.

100 members' skills Girlguiding will lose due to resignations
0
100

Join us at our all members call on the 25th January, or if you cannot make it, then check this information out after the day. Complete the form released during the meeting to let us know some basic information on who is supporting us, what skills and experience they have, and whether you have resigned or considering resigning. This gives us incredible information to show to Girlguiding exactly what they are risking losing by continuing this decision.

You can also share your list of skills more directly as a submission.

100 messages of support left on trans-led/trans-inclusive content
0
100

During this time, with confusion and action being taken against those in the trans community, we need to step up and encourage those most at risk of negative comments by changing the narrative to positivity instead of hatred. Below is a list of trans-led and trans-inclusive people and organisations you may find on social media:

100 mission flyers handed out
0
100

Print out our mission flyers and hand them out where you can. Give them to strangers, put them on noticeboards, ask shops to put them in windows, anything you can do to spread the word! Click on the image below to get the full-sized image for printing.

100 questions for Parliament
0
100

Many of us can't understand why the Supreme Court decision was made, and why it is being upheld rather than changes to the policies and laws it has impacted. Help us to write a list of 100 unique questions to pose to Parliament about any policies, guidance and laws.

Send us any questions you can think of to collate together.

100 campfire songs to be updated
0
100

In preparing for our protests, many people have already put together songs and chants to represent our feelings of the decision made, and our support for the trans women and girls affected.

However, we need more! Think of some of your favourite campfire songs and figure out how they could be reworded to emphasise our support. This could be an added verse, or a completely new song to a familiar tune.

100 follow up emails
0
100

Its important to speak up but its more impactful when you know you're being heard.

Don't be scared to follow up on inaction and non responders. Make sure you follow our tips on letter writing to ensure the right message is being received.

Listen and sing along to the guide track below, and send us the audio file to create a sing-along where we will create a... SENSATION!

100 mascot votes
0
100

Completed - 3rd January 2026

Our mascot was voted for at the beginning of this month - please meet Reef, they/them/it. They are a bubbly, excitable shark, eager to make new friends.

They are a supportive and inclusive friend to all and will always stand up for others. Reef can be a bit of an overthinker sometimes, but that doesn't stop them from being as confident as they can!

100 pressure emails to Girlguiding
0
100

We want to send as many pressure emails to Girlguiding HQ as possible to remind them that even though some time has passed, we have not and will not forget the transphobic decision they have made. Check out the Good Law Project's email tool to pressure them into accepting their offer of indemnity and add your name to the call. Remind them they cannot rely on legal issues as an excuse when they have an offer of fighting for trans inclusion in court for free, from an organisation who believe the decision to exclude was unlawful.
