Get Involved
There are so many actions that you can take to get involved in our cause. Our main campaign, 100 for 100, has lots of ways to get involved but you can also:
Show your support:
- Wear your Promise pin upside down
- Wear a progressive pride badge
- Display your own GATE badge
- Wear a trans pride necker (available from the Scout Store or make your own)
- Change your profile picture on social media to show your support (we have frames and more)
- Get creative and make something from our craftivism page
Raise your voice:
- Attend one of our protests or in person events - check out our protest page to find out what's coming up and resources
- Write to your Girlguiding commissioners and Girlguiding HQ about how you feel, and what action you might, or already have, taken because of this decision
- Write to your local MP, MSP, MSS or MLA, depending on your location, about the decision and how you want them to fight it - find templates on our resources page. Please note that there are elections in May for devolved nations.
Listen to girls:
- Use our volunteer handbook to talk to young members about the decision
- Take part in our 100 for 100 campaign with your unit
- Look at the Take Action activities, especially Guide and Ranger ones like campaigning and protesting interest badges
- Establish yourself as a safe person within the unit for young members and parents to talk to, only if you feel safe to do so
- Do our colouring sheets with Rainbows and Brownies
Sign petitions and shared letters:
Allow transgender women and girls back into GirlGuiding UK - for anyone in support of our cause
Letter of intent to resign - for anyone who has resigned or will resign due to this policy change. Send us an email or use the contact form to tell us the impact your resignation we will have so we can track the full impact of this policy
Join #GATEOnline:
We are aware that protests are not always accessible to everyone, for numerous different reasons, and so GATE Online is our online protest, a collection of projects anyone can join in with as much or as little as they want. Projects are initially launched on our Instagram page @GuidersAgainstTransExclusion, so please follow to stay up to date. Send submissions via our contact form or email
- Virtual Camp Blanket - Design a badge to add to our virtual camp blanket, either using the template or your own creative skills, digital or hand made
- Send in your testimony - Send us your story about how this decision has made you feel or affected you and people you know. You can send this via the testimony form or send us an audio or video testimony instead (please do this only if you are happy for us to share this on our public pages)
- Sing-a-long - Listen to the guide track of thunderation, and send us the recording of you (and your friends) singing along to create a huge choir of everyone's voices singing together, creating a... sensation!
